Challenge

Buma-Samie's 1,979 residents lack safe water because the community's only hand pump has failed, forcing families to use contaminated streams and wells, increasing diarrhea, typhoid and cholera. Women, girls, young children and pregnant women suffer most. The only primary school, serving 557 pupils and teachers, is unsafe and deteriorating, with leaking roofs disrupting learning. Restoring water and classrooms will protect health, education and futures for every child and family in Buma-Samie.

Solution

This Project will help restore safe water and quality education in Buma-Samie by rehabilitating a broken hand pump and Ansarul Islamic Primary School. It will provide clean drinking water to 1,979 residents, reduce waterborne diseases, and improve hygiene practices through community awareness. It will also create safe classrooms for 557 pupils and staff, increasing attendance, learning outcomes, and long-term community ownership and sustainability of services for surrounding communities system.

Long-Term Impact

Project delivers long-term safe water and improved education in Buma-Samie by rehabilitating a broken hand pump and Ansarul Islamic Primary School. It addresses unsafe water and poor learning conditions affecting 1,979 residents and 557 pupils, teachers and staff. It will reduce waterborne disease, improve attendance, strengthen hygiene, and boost learning outcomes. Community committees ensure sustainability. Over 3,500 neighboring residents benefit, improving resilience and community growth.
