Swayka - Installation of Solar-Powered Lighting on the Stairs is a community-led initiative under the Tripoli Peace Initiative, funded by the United Nations' Peacebuilding Fund and implemented by IOM with SHIFT and the Municipality of Tripoli. The project aims to install solar-powered lighting on public stairs to improve visibility, enhance safety, and strengthen residents' sense of security and community wellbeing.
The lack of adequate lighting on the stairs in Al Swayka creates safety risks for pedestrians, especially at night. Poor visibility increases the likelihood of accidents and reduces residents' sense of security, negatively affecting daily movement, accessibility, and the overall quality of life within the neighborhood.
The project will install modern solar-powered lighting along the stairs to improve visibility and provide a safer public environment. The use of solar energy offers a sustainable and reliable lighting solution that enhances pedestrian safety, reduces accidents, and improves accessibility for residents and visitors.
The installation of solar-powered lighting will improve public safety, increase residents' sense of security, and support safer mobility within the neighborhood. The project will also promote environmentally sustainable infrastructure and contribute to a more stable and connected community. In the long term, the initiative will enhance quality of life and strengthen local resilience through community-led development.
