Hi everyone, 

Following our classes which have run from January to October, in November we started our holiday school that ended 16^th December, 2022.

This is the second consecutive year when we have offered our holiday school for all of our children.

One of the principal aims of the holiday school is to keep our children active. We all know that when children have too much free time at their disposal, they become bored. They need to transfer this energy into something useful, but it also needs to be something enjoyable and that benefits themselves.

Taking this into consideration, our holiday school has become a fantastic alternative for our children during the holiday period. It’s proved an opportunity for children to continue their learning, and ensured that they have been entertained and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

In October, we finished our school year! In January, we started our classes, and since then, every day we provide education to all our children, a total of 372 children of preschool age, is the number of children we have this year. We are happy to see in our children all the educational advances in their knowledge and social attitude! During these months, they have learned many things that, for each of our children, is the basis of their education and that will serve them for life: they learned interest in reading, emotions, communication, physical skills, letters and numbers, values, interest in the environment, stimulate creativity, among other important points.

Now! We continue with our "Vacation School" that begins on November 7 and ends on December 15. We'll write to you soon how it's going!

Planting trees, planting Magic

This year, 2022, was our second year in which all our children planted their tree!   

Did you know that Guatemala has lost almost a quarter of its forests in the last 20 years? This problem concerns us all, and we know it is essential to raise awareness among new generations to improve both the future and the present. For this reason, last September, we once again carried out this wonderful activity with all our children: we planted more than 400 trees! 

With this activity we teach our children to respect and take care of nature so they can experience the magic of planting a tree and the necessary care it needs. We also teach them that trees produce oxygen, purify the air, form fertile soils, prevent erosion, keep rivers clean, serve as shelters for wildlife, reduce soil temperature, regenerate soil nutrients and many other benefits for our planet!

We carried out this activity with the support of local authorities, environmentally conscious individuals and The Ripple Effect Inc. project: They donated trees and also provided transportation to the different communities. Thanks to all of them!

We know that planting a tree is a way to give life and build the future. Trees are living beings that born and grow to provide environmental benefits that allow the development of life in all its forms. We continue to advance in the education of our children 2022!

As the months have passed, our children have been learning every day!

We started our classes in January, and to this date, we are very happy to be able to see all the learning progress that each one of our children.

To see all the learning progress that of each our children has made!

Our children have fun in our classrooms doing different activities! And at the same time, they are acquiring a lot of educational and social knowledge. 

In our preschool classrooms, they learn the social skills necessary to play and work as a team with other children as their ability to cooperate grows! 

A healthy and enjoyable school environment, fostering curiosity and wonder in every activity helps generate a positive impact on the children's learning. 

We know that the preschool level of education is fundamental because, during this period, countless developmental changes occur in physical, social, cognitive, and affective development occur during this period. 

We are laying in our children the pre-school educational foundations, which will allow them to develop skills that will surely help them develop their abilities in the future. Moreover, it is the stage in which children shape the rest of their capabilities and potential. 

We are happy to support more than 350 children in extremely remote and rural areas of Guatemala.

Second Training for our Facilitators, July 2022

Every year we carry out three training events for our entire team. This means all our Facilitators and Coordinators receive new strategies, updates, and creative ideas. They also get to share as a team! That is the reason why our training is a basis for the strengthening of the program.

In July 2022, we held our second training, and it was motivating to be able to be all together in the same place. Each training event lasts one week, which gives us the chance to update and improve our methodologies. Some facilitators have to travel long distances to be here and meet with each other. It is an exciting activity for them too!

We are delighted to have a group of 30 Facilitators and 3 Coordinators: they are very dedicated and hardworking, and they are from different communities: Sololá, Quiché, Huehuetenango, and Santa Rosa, Guatemala.

Thanks to all our donors for keeping our program moving forward and providing preschool education. Please, continue to move forward and provide preschool education to each and every one of our children!
