This years annual Go Sisters National Tournament was held from 29th through to 30th of September, 2007. This years event was a success and brought evidence of progress being made by girls to the public. Unlike in the past four (4) National tournaments, this years event had Basketball, Netball and Football with workshops running alongside these exciting games. In additon, the tournament had no hired referee or umpire but instead made use of the Go Sisters trained Officials and most of these came from the Cebtral Action Team.
This years theme was " Girls Arise, fight Child Abuse and HIV/AIDS".
The tournament had 29 girls teams coming from Lusaka and far places like Kafue, Mufulira, Choma and livingstone.
In Basketball, 120 girls took part (below the age of 19 ), and in Basketball 50 girls took part ( also below the age of 19) while in football about 206 girls below the age of 16 took part. A lot of talent was noticed by Professional clubs that were present and its hoped that some girls will be picked to play in these clubs.
Participants walked away with school materials like books, erasers and Ball points. Apart from these, all teams got balls while winners got balls and a set of jersseys each. Lets Go Sisters, we can do it!
