Today we visited a city market that was partially destroyed by the earthquake. There were over a hundred vendors selling fruits, vegetables and fish where only a few weeks ago search and rescue missions were struggling to save lives. Market vendors have taken over most of the paved road which sits in front of the market. Stalls are set up using tarp and small wood pieces to create makeshift stalls. As we passed through people were eager to sell us bananas and carrots and for a moment it seemed like market was business as usual. Despite the activity in this improvised market, behind the stalls were over two stories of rubble: what used to be the market. Down the road were more crumbled buildings where you can't help but wonder who is left inside.
