A 5-year-old boy, washes his hands after visiting the toilet. Asked what he wants to do when he grows up, Godfrey doesn’t hesitate: “I want to be a teacher and teach other children.”
Clean water, basic toilets and the practice of good hygiene are essential for human survival, and the foundation upon which development begins. Improving access to these basic needs has a positive impact on the growth and development of children and communities around the world.
Diseases related to water and sanitation are one of the major causes of death in children under five. Without access to clean water and basic toilets, and without good hygiene practices, a child’s survival, growth and development are at risk.
Over 800 children under age five die every day from preventable diarrhea-related diseases caused by lack of access to water, sanitation and hygiene.
At Another Hope Children’s we want to change this, thus the increase of access to water project. The project has progressed to the installation of gutters on the children’s main house and these gutters will help to collect water that is now channeled to the 60,000-litter underground tank. We are so grateful to the donors because without their support, we don’t know if water would be enough at the children’s home. We still need USD 806 to see to finish this project. We encourage you send word about this project to see that we increase access to clean and safe water to the children that are accommodated at AHCM Home
