Spring period of Aj Ty v IT is strongly influenced by preparation and realization of Girl’s Day – international day of women in ICT, which is in Slovakia organized by AJ Ty v IT.
Girl’s Day supports girls in choosing careers in informatics and technology. It is an integrative action day when girls visit companies, informatics faculties, universities, with the focus on hands-on experiences. For this year session, we opened 63 different programs in whole Slovakia, which visited more than 900 high school girls. Even this year session, Girl’s Day happened under the patronage of Slovak president Mr. Andrej Kiska. The most valuable for us is opening of new program in east of Slovakia (Bardejov), where we are missing the role models of IT professions for girls.
We have participated at the first Slovak edition of Django Girls, oriented to the Python coding language. 35 women could work under the guidance of experience mentors and do their first steps in Python world.
For discuss and touch a general public, we have prepared different workshops for Profesia Days, national Slovak job market fair, which annually reach more than 20 000 visitors. Most frequented was coding with LEGO robots, which attract even mothers on maternity leave. Beside that, we proposed session with drones and possibility to code own server.
As a partner of V4 consortium, we are working on the topic of transfer of innovation, which for us means specially transfer in direction to civil society and non profitable projects. With this aim, we participated at the meetings in Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic trying to find the best method for our next projects.
