Hi,
Here's an update on our project so far. At the end of June, we celebrated our 1 year anniversary. To date, we have had over 2,400 visits to the MAAWS Health Complex. Over 83% of our patients are women and children. We have seen an increase in female patients requesting specialty services because MAAWS is one the few facilities in the area to have a gynecologist on staff.
In our first year, we have been able to institute a monthly children's immunization program and Vitamin A campaign. We also hosted an eye treatment camp in partnership with Bangladesh Jatio Andha Kalyan Somity (BJAKS) Hospital in Comilla at the MAAWS Health Complex. We had 300 villagers in attendance and 196 of them were treated for eye-related issues. 20 patients were found to be in need of surgery, 48 patients received prescriptions for glasses while the rest of the patients received general treatment. Those 20 patients were transported to BJAKS to recieve further surgery and treatment. We have also started a montly children's hygience education campaign teaching the basics such as hand-washing a intervention against illness.
Currently, we are working on obtaining and implementing an medical records software in order to have better patient records. We have also recieved a new sonograph machine from a generous organization. Starting next month, we'll be able to provide more targeted treatments and interventions for expecting mothers.
