Sangvor district is one of the subordinate districts of the center, with an area of 5954 square kilometers and a population of 25 thousand people. Sangvor district consists of 5 rural communities and 59 children with disabilities live and study there.
One of the problems of people with disabilities is the lack of access to facilities in the area. Especially, children with disabilities do not have access to the mainstream school buildings.
Through this project Dunyoi Rushdi jomea (DRJ) was able to make accessible 2 mainstream schools and 1 local health point in the village with wheelchair ramps.
In addition, the organization was able to strengthen their relationship with local stakeholders, build trust and promote Inclusive Education where the activities were implemented. The community members received informational sessions on barrier free environment, rights of people with disabilities, the importance of children with disabilities to be included in schools and socialization with their peers.
The school and community authorities will continue to keep maintenance and providing support in promoting inclusive environment at school and enroll more children with disabilities into educational process.
This project became as a model for other schools in the district
