Inclusive Education Does Matter

The project “Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities” is committed to ensuring that children with disabilities have equal opportunities to access quality education, participate meaningfully in school activities, and develop their skills in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.

Inclusive education does matter because every child has the right to learn, participate, belong, and reach their full potential regardless of disability or other barriers.

During this reporting period, the project continued working with children with disabilities, their families, teachers, schools, and community members to promote inclusive education and reduce barriers to learning.

Key activities included:

• Educational support: Children with disabilities received individualized learning assistance according to their abilities and educational needs.
• Teacher support and awareness: Teachers and education personnel were encouraged to use inclusive teaching approaches and provide appropriate support to children with different learning needs.
• Learning materials: Educational and adaptive materials were provided to help children participate more effectively in classroom activities.
• Parent and caregiver engagement: Parents and caregivers were encouraged to participate in their children's education and work together with teachers and service providers.
• Awareness and advocacy: Community awareness activities highlighted the rights, abilities, and potential of children with disabilities and promoted positive attitudes toward inclusion.
• Social participation: Children were encouraged to participate in classroom, recreational, cultural, and community activities alongside their peers.

During the reporting period, 38 children with disabilities benefited directly from the project. Teachers, parents, caregivers, and other members of the community also benefited from awareness, guidance, and capacity-building activities.

The project particularly focused on children who experience barriers to education because of disability, poverty, lack of learning resources, stigma, or limited access to appropriate educational support.

The project has contributed to several positive changes in the lives of participating children.

Children have shown increased participation in learning activities, improved confidence, stronger communication with peers, and greater involvement in school and community activities.

Teachers and caregivers have also gained a better understanding of the importance of adapting learning approaches to meet individual needs.

One of the most important achievements has been promoting the idea that disability should never be a reason for a child to be excluded from education.

Despite the progress made, several challenges remain. These include limited educational resources, inadequate accessibility in some schools, shortages of specialized support, lack of awareness, and financial difficulties faced by families.

Changing negative attitudes and removing barriers to education requires continued cooperation among schools, families, communities, government institutions, organizations, and donors.

Donations received through the project are supporting educational assistance, learning materials, awareness activities, teacher and caregiver support, and other interventions that help children with disabilities access and participate in education.

Each contribution helps create a more welcoming learning environment where children can learn together, participate equally, and develop their abilities.

During the next reporting period, the project will continue to:

• Expand educational support for children with disabilities.
• Strengthen collaboration with schools and teachers.
• Provide appropriate learning and teaching materials.
• Increase parent and caregiver involvement.
• Promote disability awareness and reduce stigma.
• Advocate for accessible and inclusive learning environments.
• Monitor children's educational progress and participation.

Every child deserves the opportunity to attend school, learn with their peers, express themselves, develop their talents, and dream about their future.

Children with disabilities are not defined by their disabilities. With appropriate support, encouragement, accessible education, and acceptance, they can learn, contribute, and become active members of their communities.
