There is a time and season for giving

Duncan Tree Foundation is passionate about empowering young people, NOW. Specifically Generation Alpha, our future leaders, who are part of the generation that will help solve big problems like climate change, and food, water, and fuel shortages.  This is their time and this is their season for growth and development.

For over ten years Duncan Tree's focus was on young people overseas providing hundred of them with free corrective spine surgery (valued at $50 million USD).

NOW, we are shifting our focus in this season to helping disadvantaged young people, right here in the United States, live a life of balance through wellness which in turn helps our society be more harmonious. Duncan Tree believes being whole means having balance in all aspects of life including physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual.

Our KIDS IN THE MIDDLE (KITM) vision statement is our call-to-action.

KITM brings together coaches, mentors, and mentees. In a cross-functional mentorship-coaching program designed to connect mentors and coaches with students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) from financially and educationally distressed communities with professionals already working in the STEM field and certified professional coaches. With oversight and guidance from a program manager, using assessment tools that provide insight for the mentor and coach who partner together to provide solid guidance to students (mentees) who will ultimately become qualified for a career in the STEM field.

The similarities and difference between mentoring and coaching is:

Coaching and mentoring are both one-to-one conversations that aim to enhance an individual's skills, knowledge or performance, but the approaches are very different. The coaches empower individuals to find their own answers, they will guide them to the solution by asking open questions which will develop their own skills that they can then take into any situation. Whereas a mentor gives their answer based on their own experiences – it is more direct advice. Their help may be specific to their own field, in this case, STEM, and they have information sources and will use their past experiences to guide them.

We seek to listen to and empower our mentees interested in pursuing a career in STEM fields. By giving them access to mentors and coaches we can help them realize their full potential.  Each young participant makes a one-year commitment, approximately eight hours per month, in a one-to-one with a mentor and professionally trained coach.

Coach volunteers are being recruited from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). Coaches participate in a rigorous training program with oversight by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). All iPEC coaches have been certified as both professional coaches and energy leadership master practitioners who focus on emotional intelligence.

We at Duncan Tree envision a community in which every young participant experiences the security of a nurturing one-on-one relationship and the support and guidance of their team and the guardians around them. In turn, this allows each mentee to develop into their full potential, capable of managing their emotions and making informed, responsible decisions as involved citizens of our community.

We thank you all for your continued support and ask you to invest in America’s future scientists, medical professionals, engineers, technologists, astronauts, mathematicians, researchers, analysts, economists, and more.

It’s been a long time since America has been at the forefront of exceptional change in the STEM field. YOU can make this happen with your support for this program.

Help Duncan Tree help our children and future leaders move beyond simply surviving towards thriving.

Your tax-deductible contributions today ensure tomorrow's prosperity.

We wish you all the best in the upcoming holiday season and we will see you in the new year!
