Technical Vocational Training and Non-Formal Education In Ciudad Quetzal, Guatemala, many adolescents and young people leave school due to poverty and limited opportunities. This project provides technical vocational training, life skills education, and flexible non-formal education, enabling them to continue their studies, develop employable skills, secure better job opportunities, and build a brighter future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
In Ciudad Quetzal, San Juan Sacatepequez, where 33% of the population is made up of children and adolescents, young people face barriers to continuing their education. According to an EPRODEP socioeconomic study (2020), 95% of beneficiary families are led by women, mainly single mothers, for whom covering education costs represents a major challenge. As a result, many adolescents drop out of school and become exposed to situations of violence and migration.
EPRODEP provides support to adolescents and young people in vulnerable situations by offering technical training and access to non-formal education opportunities, enabling them to build a life plan that helps them continue their studies, reduce their exposure to violence, and create new opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities.
The project will provide support to 30 adolescents and young people in vulnerable situations through technical training and, when needed, access to non-formal education. This will enable them to continue their studies. In the long term, it will contribute to improving their access to better employment opportunities, strengthening their economic conditions, reducing school dropout, exposure to violence, and migration, while promoting their personal well-being and that of their families.
