IMPROVING WOMEN LITERACY IN TRIBAL POCKET ODISHA

PROGRESS REPORT OF WOMEN LITERACY PROGRAMME IN M.RAMPUR BLCOK OF KALAHANDI

1. Survey  :  KARMI under take a survey to find out the total illiterate women persons in the age group of 15 years above and prepared a list of eligible learners of each village, GP and overall M.Rampur block of Kalahandi  district.  We have mentioned the detail of all learners found in the table. Finally we make them in group of 35 members and make them two shifts. KARMI also prepared the shifts and batches make the learners. In the first batch consisting of 2 shirt each, there are 1200 learners in 40 centers and detail have been submit in the table. The facilitators also make them groups and the first batches of learners in two shifts also finalized,
2. Community Mobilisation:     The existing situation in the project area is not conducive for a straight way intervention of the project goal. The existing gender disparity, illiteracy, lack of awareness are impediments on the path of realizing project objectives. Therefore the community who are the primary stakeholders have to be mobilized thoroughly. For this  KARMI has been organized 12  village meetings and 2  GP meetings in each Village and GPs on Women literacy programmeCBFL programme, its utility and the benefit of the target people. A series of village meetings, rallies, processions will be undertaken for creating awareness on the issues of illiteracy and the community to build up a child friendly environment.

 Formation of Committees: The committee of CBFL has been formed in each village in 10 GPs. There are 7 to 9 members of each committees comprised of an Educated person like Head master of concerned village school or  retired teacher,  the PRI members, Anganwadi works, and the word members of the ward or village. The role and responsibility also detail discussed with them and the committees have taken the responsibility of monitoring the programmes as well short out the problems concerned with the centre and take care of well running of the centre.

 Selection of  Facilitators : As per the recommendation of the village CBFL committee KARMI have been  given appointment of 40 Facilitators to continue the programme. The Facilitators having the qualification Metric or above with  computer knowledge and belonging to the villages. In the month of December,  KARMI finalized the selection of teachers as follow and engaged them to prepare the survey list of the learners and suitable villages in their respective villages.
