The North American Mental Health/Psychiatry group has upcoming trips planned for both February and March of 2018.
The Brown group, led by Dr. Anne Walters, will be in Eldoret for the month of February with two attending psychologists and three child psychiatry fellows, with a focus on consultation for child and adolescent services. New clinical experiences for this year are the provision of training and intervention for the Tumaini Boy’s Shelter, participation in the growing outpatient children’s clinic at MTRH, and mental health consultation at the Rafiki Center for Adolescent Medicine.
Dr. Steve Epstein from Georgetown is attending for the month of March, with one child psychiatry fellow from IU, with a focus on consultation/liaison services.
Goals for both trips are continued liaison with Moi colleagues around clinical, teaching and research endeavors at MTRH clinics, wards, and specialty services.
Brown is also actively planning a 2 month visit at Butler and Bradley Hospitals in September and October 2018, by two 2nd year registrars from the Moi Medical School department of psychiatry.
