Our Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Project gives beneficiary mothers the opportunity to attend workshops about nutrition, hygiene, reproductive health, vaccinations and so much more.
At the start of the year, the first workshop was a recap of everything discussed last year. For about an hour, all the mothers gathered and looked over posters about the benefits of breastfeeding and charts explaining vaccinations, and they discussed the importance of regular check-ups for both their kids and themselves.
Vilma and Rebeca, the MCH Project Team, asked the mothers from last year what they enjoyed most or wanted to learn more about. An overwhelming number of mothers confessed that they enjoyed being introduced to the topic of mental health. Many admitted they hadn’t considered the topic an important aspect of being a good mother.
This year, the MCH Team will focus a bit more on women’s rights and on family planning methods. One key goal is to empower the mothers with knowledge about their own health and give them the confidence to ask their doctors questions about their personal and their children’s health. The MCH Project will continue supporting mothers with information about the holistic approach to ensuring a healthy childhood for their kids and for themselves. during their most vulnerable stage.
We’re excited to share new information with the mothers during this year’s workshops, and we will continue having open dialogue about health and rights. These workshops and medical support for the moms and kids wouldn’t be possible without your Global Giving support. Thank You!
