On 4 June 2026, Turn It Around Eswatini (TIA-E), in partnership with the World Vegetable Centre (WVC), TAVI, the Ministry of Agriculture Home Economics Extension Services, and UNESWA Consumer Science interns, successfully conducted a Traditional African Vegetables (TAVs) training workshop for the Ekupheleni community under Motshane
TIA-E conducted a successful series of trainings across Mpolonjeni, Nduma, and Ekupheleni Chiefdoms, under Motshane inkhundla reaching communities with practical knowledge on climate-smart agriculture, nutrition, food processing, backyard gardening, and sustainable livelihoods.
Participants gained hands-on skills in Traditional African Vegetable production, innovative food preparation techniques, value addition, and climate resilience practices. A practical garden demonstration was conducted, and vegetable seeds were distributed to encourage household food production.
A special highlight was the sharing of lived experiences on nutrition, HIV resilience, and the powerful role of indigenous foods in supporting health, wellbeing, and ART adherence.
Together, we are promoting healthier communities, strengthening food and nutrition security, preserving indigenous knowledge, and building resilience to climate change.
Special appreciation to the World Vegetable Centre, Ministry of Agriculture, traditional leadership, community volunteers, and all participants who made this initiative a success.
