Thanks to your continuing support, the Cookstove Project is moving forward. VIP’s CEO,
Dr. LeRoy Boikai is now in Monrovia for the purpose of overseeing construction of the factory and the hiring of workers. The land has already been cleared and Dr. Boikai has been notified that the pre-fab factory parts will arrive in port this month. We look forward to being able to start construction on the factory as soon as the parts and materials are out of customs and delivered to the site.
Dr. Boikai will be on site to ensure that everything is done to a high standard and that the grant money is being used in the most efficient way possible. This means that he will be living in Liberian for some time. The main funding for the factory has come from a $200,000 grant from the Africa Energy Challenge Fund.
We will look forward to updates from him on our Facebook Page. If you are not already following us on Facebook, you can find us at Village Improvement Project, Inc.
As you know, clean cooking is an energy issue, a health issue, an environmental issue, and a women’s empowerment issue in Liberia. Addressing this challenge requires educating households, institutions, and businesses, creating demand, developing new distribution models, and changing practices ingrained over centuries. Your generous donations are going to make that happen.
Thank you for your continuing support!
