As we mentioned in our last report, the current economic slump in Liberia has led us to take a go-slow approach with our cookstove project. Long existing businesses are closing, gasoline shortages are hampering transportation, and most people are unemployed and scraping by on very little income. However, we have not given up on the important work of reducing carbon emissions and promoting the use of clean energy in Liberia.
The Village Improvement team continues to do research to find viable cookstove models and is monitoring the use of stoves we’ve piloted. We can really use your help. Have you ever used a high-efficiency wood stove such as a "rocket stove" for camping or other outdoor use? Can you recommend any particular type or brand?
Please share any experience you have with either high-efficiency wood burning stoves or with stoves which need only small amounts of charcoal.
Thank you very much.
