Spring into 2025 !

By Emily Forbes | Project Manager

From new collaborations in Athens, competitons in Lesvos and snow fun in Ioannina, 2025 is already in full swing.

We are pleased to announce three fantastic new collaboration: firstly, with Glocal Roots. Thanks to our dedicated volunteer and yoga instructor, Shauna, we are able to offer women-only yoga classes at Victoria Community Centre, providing a safe and empowering space for women to practice mindfulness and movement.

We are also thrilled to announce a new partnership between YSR, the Antetokounmpo Foundation, and EmpowerVan. Starting soon, we will offer self-defense and fitness classes for women at Schisto Camp. Many women struggle to leave the camp to join activities, so we are bringing these sessions directly to them, ensuring they have access to empowering sports opportunities.

We also had an inspiring conversation with Bantu Dancers, a team of Afro dancers eager to start offering Afro-fitness classes for women. Soon we will integrate this dynamic and culturally rich form of movement into our activities.

In Lesvos we started the month with two amazing fitness competitions, one for women and one mixed-gender. Participants gave their all and energy was through the roof! It was a marvelous demonstration of competitiveness, but also of community, since everyone was cheering for each other. Bravo to all participants and winners!

We are also proud to share that our running team was the absolute protagonist and winner of the Half Marathon Mytilene! We won so many medals we can’t count them, first places and podiums in almost all the categories. Go team!

In Ioannina the month started with a trip to the snow during our monthly team trip. And since we all love a game of volleyball, we spent hours playing volleyball with snow under our feet, in addition to sledding down the mountains and having a picnic in the sun!

We are #strongertogether
