Dear Friends,
Because of your generosity and support, 663 students at Mercy & Sharing's John Branchizio School will be back in class on September 2, 2013! During the summer, they have participated in organized activities in the morning and received a hot, nutritious meal each day. Now that school is starting again, they will soon be back in a rigorous routine of academics.
Mercy & Sharing is excited to announce that 99% of all students at John Branchizio school passed the National Exam! This compares to the national average in Haiti of 70% and is quite an achievement for the students and teachers.
This year, we have added an 11th grade class. The well and chlorination system is working so that each child receives clean drinking water. Mercy & Sharing has also initiated a Mentor Speaking Program where community leaders speak to the students about their careers. Hearing from a succesful person encourages students to continue their studies. So far, students have heard inspirational messages from physicians, attorneys, business leaders, and a hotel owner.
With the funds that you have donated, we will soon be purchasing some new desks and chairs. These improvements will enhance the educational experience for students and teachers alike.
Please continue to support this project and know that you are making a DIRECT impact on the lives of students who are all dreaming about their futures.
Warmly,
