Dear Friend,
Thank you for supporting Foodbank Australia’s work to deliver essential food and groceries to people experiencing hunger across Australia.
Every day, individuals and families across the country are facing difficult choices between putting food on the table and covering other essential costs such as housing, utilities, transport and healthcare. Your support helps Foodbank respond to this need by sourcing and distributing essential food and groceries through our national network of Foodbanks, charity partners and schools.
Over the past year, Foodbank sourced the equivalent of 92 million meals – around 252,000 meals every day – supporting 2,966 charity partners and 3,649 school breakfast programs across Australia. More than 30% of all food distributed reached regional and remote communities, where distance, limited access and higher costs can make securing affordable food even more challenging.
Your contribution helps make this national effort possible. Donations support Foodbank to source essential products and move them to where they are needed most – from metropolitan communities experiencing cost-of-living pressures to regional and remote areas, schools supporting children experiencing food insecurity, and communities impacted by natural disasters and emergencies.
Food relief is about much more than providing something to eat. Reliable access to nutritious food can relieve pressure on household budgets, reduce stress and provide greater stability during difficult times. For children, having access to breakfast at school can help them start the day ready to learn, while for families, receiving essential groceries can mean one less difficult decision that week.
Foodbank also works to make every available source of food count. Through partnerships with farmers, manufacturers, retailers and other organisations, we rescue surplus food that may otherwise go to waste while also proactively sourcing and manufacturing key staples through programs such as our Collaborative Supply Program. Together, these initiatives help ensure our network has access to the variety and volume of food needed to support communities across Australia.
When disasters strike, this national network also enables Foodbank to respond quickly. Our Foodbanks work alongside governments, emergency services and community organisations to provide essential food, water and grocery items to communities affected by floods, cyclones, bushfires and other emergencies, while continuing to support people already experiencing food insecurity.
Looking ahead, Foodbank will continue strengthening our national food relief network, building partnerships across the food and grocery sector, increasing access to essential staple foods, supporting schools and charities, and improving our ability to reach communities wherever the need is greatest.
Thank you for making this work possible. Your generosity is helping Foodbank put essential food and groceries within reach of Australians doing it tough – from our cities to regional and remote communities across the country.
Together, we are helping ensure that no one has to face hunger alone.
