Thank you for recently coming forward in support of IIMPACT – helping educate non-school going girls in rural India. It is due to your help that IIMPACT is able to increase its reach, making a significant difference in the lives of young girls while simultaneously positively transforming the communities that they live in.
We have observed that previously prevailing gender biases are now gradually disappearing, girls who would have otherwise have remained illiterate and have gotten married by the age of 13 are now continuing with their studies at IIMPACT learning centres. They have aspirations, wanting to change the way things have been and the conditions, which have remained static for generations.
IIMPACT has since its inception succeeded in sending 780 girls from primary to secondary level schools. This year another 762 girls have appeared for the public board exams – the final results are awaited with great excitement. We are confident that they will all do us proud, as they have done in the past. We will share the final results with you once they have been declared.
IIMPACT plans to further reach out to more out of schoolgirls. Surveys were recently conducted - new areas where there is a great need for IIMPACT’s intervention were identified. One of these areas falls in district Shravasti in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. This neglected area has a mere 18% female literacy rate. Villages reeling under acute poverty are being targeted where the number of ‘out of school girls’ is very high. Out of school girls have been identified and teachers have been recruited and have undergone intensive training workshops in preparation for the academic session ahead. The required relevant teaching learning material is all in place. We will keep you updated on the progress of these newly established centres.
‘Educate a girl and you educate generations to come’ – is what all of us at IIMPACT firmly believe.
Thank you once again for your generous and inspirational support.
