Summary

Planet Water Foundation's 'The Germ Chasers' program is a digital education initiative designed to teach children about the importance of healthy hygiene habits and how to protect themselves from harmful germs. The program uses an engaging 3D animated video and supporting materials to empower children with essential knowledge. We are seeking support to expand the reach of this program to 5 schools in underserved communities across the Philippines, ensuring access to vital hygiene education.

Challenge

In many underserved communities in the Philippines, access to hygiene education is limited. The lack of hygiene education contributes to the spread of preventable illnesses, affecting children's health and their ability to attend school. Traditional hygiene education methods can be difficult to implement and sustain, especially in remote areas. The need for engaging and accessible educational resources is critical to breaking the cycle of illness.

Solution

Participating schools take part in an online training session facilitated by Planet Water Educators, and then receive digital access to the 'The Adventures of Droplet! The Germ Chasers' 3D animated video to teach children healthy hygiene through engaging, interactive learning, as well as a teacher's guide with supporting lessons and activities, and correlating teaching aids and posters.

Long-Term Impact

By equipping children with knowledge about healthy hygiene habits, 'The Germ Chasers' program aims to create a lasting impact on their health and well-being. This program will help reduce the incidence of waterborne and hygiene-related illnesses, improve school attendance and educational outcomes, foster a culture of hygiene awareness, and empower children to become agents of positive change within their families and communities.
