Hand washing with soap is a "do-it-yourself vaccine" that prevents infections and saves lives – and hundreds of parents and children where we work in India have been learning together all about this!
Planet Water aims to foster and support a global and local culture of hand washing with soap through conducting activity-based, hands-on Water-Health & Hygiene Workshops covering everything from hand washing, germs and how they spread, to bathing, tooth brushing, clean water collection and storage, as well as water conservation. After each Workshop, the parents and children continue learning through a fun-filled community viewing of our DVD, which was created by Sesame Workshop in support of our program, followed by more games and activities.
Don’t take it from me – take a look at what the children and their caregivers had to say about the impact YOU have help to make:
“…My favorite activity was working with the giant teeth and toothbrush. I now know how to brush my teeth properly.
- 5th Grade Student
“Thank you for teaching us about keeping ourselves clean and keeping the water clean. The checklist about keeping the water clean is helpful. It will serve as a reminder for my entire family and me. - Mother of a Kindergarten Student
“The health and hygiene Workshops served as a bonding activity for my child and me. It is a great experience drawing, performing and playing with him. This is my first time to learn new things with my son. – Mother of a 1st Grade Student
For the children across India, having access to hygiene education for the first time means hope for a healthier future, improved education and lots of happiness. Thank you - YOU have made a difference in the lives of those in need. Please continue to give the gift of hygiene education – and spread the word – because together, we can continue to make a difference to those in need!
