It has been nine months since Hurricane Florence devastated eastern North Carolina. After months of cleanup, families are beginning to get back into rebuilt or repaired housing. Low-income housing was especially hit hard and finding affordable housing for many residents has been a challenge.
The Green Chair Project has served 165 low-income households since December 2018, delivering essential furnishings to people who lost everything during the storm and/or subsequent flooding. Whole households are shipped directly to the families once they get into sustainable housing. The Global Giving grant helped provide furnishing assistance to 22 of these families.
