After takin four days to help relief teams in Panama City, we circled back to help in Mexico Beach, which many of you know was the hardest hit area of Florida during Hurricane Michael.
99% of structures here suffered major damage. We would imagine that due to the fragility of most of these homes and businesses, that the best option that will be presented to most will be to demolish and rebuild their buildings: with new foundations on many as many of the existing ones have been shifted or cracked.
So right now we are a recovery unit doing some relief, but moreso focused on helping people to at least gain access to where they can assess with their adjusters.
Our detail is helping people salvage what they can before demolition or hauling away what has been demolished by the storm.
*please see attached video that we took as we rode through the area headed to our assignment. It is ten minutes long but you can see the streets first hand.
This area and some surrounding areas (cities) will take a year or more to rebuild the basics of what they had.
