Today was a very beautiful but super humid day. Mid 90’s. The pace of the day felt slow, though statistically we got a lot done.
Search and rescue on a broad scale was called off in our area.
Coast Guard remains on duty 2 miles off shore, however no new calls came in from New Bern, Emerald Isle or Swansborough. Wilmington remains a hot zone being that the water has literally nowhere to go.
We actually got a chance to go by Camp Lejeune and saw new marines doing drill outside for a change.
A real ray of sunshine (figuratively) peeked through when we saw neighbors using sub pumps to shoot water from their streets back toward the ocean.
It was if they were saying “no thanks...we’re going back to our way of things”.
We actually saw several contractors workin and beachfront homeowners picking up the pieces. Tarping roofs and putting old/ storm beaten furniture and property on the curbs.
It wasn’t in mass, but the moving forward process on any scale feels good.
