By Curtis Drafton | Veteran Response Team Leader
After 72 hours on the ground in flood zones, we have seen first hand the overwhelming tasks required.
The Atlantic ocean is pushing water upstream into rivers and streams causing amazing flooding. Streams are now rivers and rivers are now running rapid and above levels.
Entire homes, some two stories tall are under water.
Rescuers, Firefighters, EMS and police are overwhelmed with many sleeping in their vehicles close to flood zones. Food and water are scarce in the area so even first responders are having to travel 40+ miles to find supplies.
As reported on the news most homes and businesses have no electricity or gas, and most grocery stores are boarded up.
Our own Team is putting the word out back in Charlotte to try to gather non perishable food items, cases of water and Gatorade, as well as dry clothes.
By what we are told from the Coast Guard nearby, it will take months for the waters to completely receding and to cleanup.
