Project Update: Resource Mobilization Continues for Implementation

ONG ASRAD remains strongly committed to implementing the Training on Human Rights and Good Governance project in Mali.

The initiative aims to strengthen knowledge and awareness of human rights, good governance, civic participation, peace, social cohesion, and fundamental freedoms, particularly among young people, women, community leaders, civil society actors, and other vulnerable groups.

During this reporting period, our primary efforts have focused on resource mobilization, partnership development, planning, and preparation for implementation. While there is significant interest in the initiative, we have not yet secured sufficient funding to implement all planned activities at the intended scale.

Funding is particularly needed to organize training sessions and community awareness activities, mobilize trainers and participants, produce educational materials, support outreach activities, and facilitate the dissemination of human rights information to communities.

A major ambition of the project is to make human rights information more accessible by supporting the dissemination of 100,000 educational and awareness materials, while strengthening the capacities of communities to understand, promote, and defend their fundamental rights.

Why This Project Remains Important

Communities affected by poverty, insecurity, displacement, and limited access to information can face significant barriers to understanding and exercising their rights.

Human rights education is therefore essential for building peaceful, inclusive, and accountable societies. Through this project, ASRAD seeks to provide practical knowledge that can help citizens understand their rights and responsibilities, participate in public life, promote peaceful dialogue, and contribute to good governance within their communities.

Young people and women will remain important target groups because of their essential role in building peaceful and resilient communities.

Current Challenge: Funding

The principal challenge remains mobilizing sufficient financial resources to move from preparation to full implementation.

ASRAD continues to approach potential donors, foundations, institutions, and technical partners to secure the resources required for the project.

Additional contributions through GlobalGiving will directly help us organize training activities, develop and distribute educational materials, reach communities, and strengthen local human rights awareness.

Next Steps

In the coming months, ASRAD plans to:

• Continue fundraising and partnership outreach;
• Mobilize trainers, young people, women, and community representatives;
• Prepare human rights and good governance training materials;
• Strengthen collaboration with civil society and community stakeholders;
• Organize training and awareness sessions as resources become available;
• Produce and disseminate human rights educational materials;
• Document results, participant feedback, and lessons learned.
