The Leadership Accelerator Programme (LAP) addresses the persistent under-representation of African women in leadership across the corporate, public, and development sectors. Through an integrated model of leadership learning, mentorship, peer exchange, and practical application, the programme equips young African women with the skills, confidence, and networks to advance their careers, influence decision-making, and contribute to positive change in their communities and institutions.
In 2026, LAP recorded significant reach and participation, with more than 4,500 women from 48 African and 12 non-African countries registering for the programme. Over 1,500 participants completed the free online learning phase, demonstrating strong demand for accessible leadership development opportunities for African women. Building on this reach, 31 emerging women leaders from 12 African countries were selected to participate in an immersive, in-person Boot Camp in Nairobi, Kenya, marking the first time the LAP Boot Camp was held outside Lagos.
The Boot Camp provided participants with a practical and transformative leadership experience. Through keynote sessions, panel discussions, case studies, peer learning, and experiential activities, participants explored critical areas including transformational leadership, personal branding and executive presence, financial intelligence, the failure advantage, and male allyship. The programme also created opportunities for participants to build cross-border relationships, exchange perspectives, and learn from the diverse experiences of emerging women leaders across the continent.
With continued donor support, LEAP Africa will build on this momentum to expand access to leadership development, strengthen the programme’s pan-African reach, and equip more young African women with the capabilities, confidence, and networks required to lead boldly and create lasting impact.
Thank you for your continued partnership and investment in the next generation of African women leaders.
