LEAP Africa Launches the LEAP Leadership Institute (LLI) for Young Africans
The LEAP Leadership Institute (LLI) will empower youth enablers for transformative leadership in Africa
LEAP Africa, through your kind generosity, has launched the LEAP Leadership Institute (LLI) - a centre of excellence for evidence-based resources to inspire, empower and equip youths and their enablers for transformative leadership in Africa.
As a part of the launch, youth leaders across the continent will have the opportunity to enrol and build capacity through its pilot course; Leading Positive Youth Development (PYD). This course, which is now open for registration, has been designed to empower youth development practitioners to achieve better programmatic outcomes for young people, and bridge the competence and knowledge gap so that more innovators are able to deepen their impact and amplify their influence.
By 2030, LEAP Africa expects to have impacted 10 million Africansdirectly and gained a quantum leap in building ethical leaders and businesses to drive Africa’s realisation of its full potential. The LLI, therefore, is a strategic approach to unlock opportunities, pioneer and deliver our passion for an Africa that will lead a new frontier for good governance, inclusive growth and economic prosperity.
According to the leading youth development nonprofit organisation, Young Africans face significant barriers that limit successful transitions in five key areas of Education, Employment, Access to Healthcare, Social Mobility, and Exercising Citizenship. The LEAP Leadership Institute (LLI) stands as an oasis for leadership development, training and research, which will scale proven innovative and evidence-based approaches to raising youth leaders to tackle these transition challenges and lead effective systems leveraging technology.
60% of Africa's population is under 25 years - one out of five are unemployed. The COVID-19 pandemic however has increased these numbers further and has exposed the inadequacies of job creation, research, skills gaps related to unemployment amongst others. Therefore, it is imperative to bridge these gaps to support the efforts of governments, corporations, and philanthropists in reducing youth unemployment, increasing youth engagement in nation-building and positioning young people to provide authentic solutions to problems facing young people.
“Positive transformation in Africa may seem like a dream to many, but for us, we believe nothing is impossible when we are committed,” says Femi - Executive Director, LEAP Africa. “Over the past two decades LEAP Africa has kept to its promise and the LEAP Leadership Institute is a critical step towards actualizing our vision - To be recognized as the premier resource centre for developing dynamic, innovative and principled leaders, who will drive Africa’s realisation of its full potential.”
Your continued donation will help us offer training and resources to more young people.
