Casita Linda 2015 Easter Report

By George Fields | Project Leader / Casita Linda Ambassador

Happy Easter everyone!

First, we at Casita Linda would like to thank you for your continued support of our mission to provide safe and secure homes for families living in extreme poverty in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Proving home and a safe environement would not be possible without the financial support, volunteer work, and morale support that you provide.

Over the last six months, the Casita Linda team has been working towards strengthening and expanding our mission to include other living essentials. We are happy to announce that in addition to providing homes, we are providing beds; tables and chairs; and lights. In addition, with the support of the San Miguel Community, we were able to provide families with blankets and warm clothing during the winter.

In addition, we are proud to annouce that last month, Casita Linda was chosen as the recipient of funds raised during a local walk-a-thon, hosted by Jose Vasconcelos Escuela Bilingue, a local bilingual school of excellence that promotes the importance of human values and selfless service to the local community. The San Miguel community has been very supportive and we are so grateful to have the backing of a strong local community in providing for families in need.

As we enter the warmer months of Spring, we look forward to developing new programs for our families, in preparation for the arrival of the summer rainy season. At this time, we continue to be focused in the neighborhood Nuevo Pantoja, an area located just outside of San Miguel. There are some truly wonderful families here, that need our support.

We would like to remind our supporters that none of our officers or board members receive any wages or other benefits. The only individuals who receive any pay are the individuals on our Mexican construction teams and our Executive Director, who is a Mexican and also a local of San Miguel de Allende. We conduct our operations on a budget that is very carefully managed, and more thatn 90% of your contribution goes directly toward the construction of our Casitas.

Casita Linda would again like to thank our local, national, and international communities for their continued support. We appreciate your past and future support and we hope that you and your friends, members of your family and perhaps a local business or charitable organization in your town will also be able to support our work and mission.
