I'm pretty sure that fun in a requirement for every childhood. Sure, reading, writing, education, food, medicine, shelter... All those are important. BUT you only get one chance to be a child, to have that pure unadulterated joy that comes with the simplest of activities.
So we decided to have a day of face painting! The children were ecstatic. We brought a mirror so they could see their reflections and they squealed with delight, advised us on what to paint, fought over whose turn it was in front of the mirror, and waited semi-patiently for their turn to be painted.
Their smiles lit up the entire room. So many days working in the aid sector are focused on survival. It was heaven to have an entire day that was all about FUN!
It is the support of well-wishers like you who make House of Hope a reality. Thank you all for your continued support, and with your help, the hopeless are hopeful.
