Progress report 4
As reported in our last progress report in November 2015 construction was stopped for about 8 weeks due to heavy rains. Now the construction is in full speed. As per original plan the building is expected to be completed by June/July 2016. The number of residents at the hostel who will be empowered has been increased to 40 from 20 as Dharithree is planning to provide bunker style sleepers instead of single cots. They are confident that this will not in anyway affect either the comfort of the residents or the quality of training.
We have to share with you another good news. A large multinational US corporation with operations in India recently visited the campus and was impressed with the quality of care. They have agreed to partner with Dharithree under the Corporate Social Responsibility promoted by the Govt. of India. This partnership will not only help in fund-raising efforts by Dharithree but also in harnessing the power of technology for the benefit of special children.
Just to recap, the total cost of the hostel building is around $85,000. A donor had agreed to donate $50,000 provided we raise the balance of $35,000. Therefore, we set a goal to raise $35,000 through Global Giving (GG). We have so far raised $24,400. (The donor has already donated $25,000 as a part of the deal to match the amount raised by us.) Therefore, we need to raise the balance of $10,600 and we request you to please consider making additional donation to bring this campaign to a successful conclusion. Once we raise the balance amount the donor will donate additional $25,000. We thank you sincerely for saving that special place in your heart for our children. Below are few photos of the progress made so far.
