Dear friends,
It has now been one year since our Wise, Casper, Agni and Yuki got a second chance to keep on living. Shortly after, together with you, we embarked on a mission to make the Horse sanctuary a reality.
Since our last report, we are nearly done with the stable. The construction has thick straw walls, covered in several layers of clay thanks to some awesome volunteers, like yourself, that during 4 eco-construction workshops covered all the stable's first floor in plasture. The workshops also served as a wonderful opportunity of passing on the eco-construction practices to tens of volunteers that joined. The walls of the second floor have been partially covered with reed and the roof has been finished for the entire construction. Now working on insulating the building and preparing it for the cold weather.
On the arena side, we managed to locally source the clay needed for the foundation, thus saving some resources. Now working on building the side boards to hold the clay and the sand in place.
One of this year's major events, was Svea's visit, a volunteer originally from Germany who stayed with us nearly 2 months, who helped us build a better vision for our natural horsemanship trainings, services and even improvements to the infrastructure. looking forward to her return this spring and a series of natural horsemanship trainings for the local equine loving community.
As winter is around the corner, we're also busy with stacking up for the no pasture cold season. All the straw bales we need are already under cover, working now on fundraising for buying the bales we need for the winter of hay and alpha-alpha.
Thanks to so many kind people like yourself, the horse sanctuary was aired several times on national television. We received more than a dozen of paid groups visits and interactions with the horses, thus laying the foundation to our sustainability. The increased visibility helped us get some brand new tack, ropes and contributions.
With all this care and attention, our horses have surely changed a lot. Now, after interacting with more than a few hundred people over the year at the sanctuary in Riscova, they are calmer, more sure of themselves and visibly happier.. which makes all this effort trully worth it.
In the name of the entire team and the horses, thank you for all your kind and generous support. We are looking forward to send you the next updates and meanwhile, if you're nearby - do come visit, and if not - help us spread the word and keep up the work!
