Hello everyone!
This is Jenn with OATH.
We are facing all kinds of resistance to this idea. Despite that fact that this model is working in cities like LA, and Seattle and most recently a city in NJ, our city and county still remain skeptical. Despite the proven track record of tiny homes communities around the globe, we have a lot of resistance to new ideas on how to handle the homeless crisis.
With that in mind we have decided to do a smaller scale of a Hope Village pilot program using just 8 units. The Hope Village pilot will be on the property of our building in the backyard. We are starting the process of getting our building renovated to accommodate the accessory dwelling units made by Pallet Shelter in our backyard. This plan will give us a chance to prove to the community and city officials that we can do the work on a larger scale.
We believe this is the best way to move forward with the project. Until the old antiquated ideas on how homelessness is addressed in this country are put out to pasture, we are moving forward with our plan without asking the city for one penny.
I am happy to report we have already purchased one Pallet Shelter and are on our way to purchasing more!
We remain in constant contact with the Pallet Shelter staff and are going to have some EXCITING announcements coming in the next couple months!
Thanks to all of you for all your dedication and support to this new way of doing things! We are in this together!
Please donate if you can or share the project to others!
Thank you all again from all of us at OATH.
Respectfully yours,
Jennifer Miklus -Vice President
