We're Still Here. Still Showing Up. Still Believing.
When we launched the Gift of Sight campaign earlier this year, our goal was simple but powerful: help 200 children see clearly and in doing so, help them learn, thrive, and live fully.
Since our last update in January, we’ve been on the ground, continuing the work. Our mobile healthcare clinic has stayed active, despite every challenge. We’ve been offering free eye screenings, handing out glasses, and reaching people no one else is reaching.
But truthfully? We’re doing this on fumes.
What's Happened Since January
Vision Care:
We’ve tested over 100 children since the start.
15 pairs of glasses were provided , each one a lifeline to better learning and confidence.
The rest? They're still waiting. Diagnosed, but we can't afford the glasses yet.
Health Screenings:
We've provided over 200 free health checks—screenings for diabetes, hypertension, and basic vitals in areas where people often go years without seeing a nurse or doctor.
Dignity for Girls:
200+ sanitary pads have been distributed.
We've hosted open conversations about menstrual hygiene, breaking down shame and empowering young girls to understand their bodies.
The Reality: One Donor, $20, and a Long Way to Go
We’re not going to sugarcoat this.
We've received only one donation of $20 through this platform. It's enough to give one child a pair of glasses. But 199 are still waiting. Many are falling behind in school, not because they’re lazy or slow, but because they can’t see the board.
The gap between need and resources is heartbreaking.
What We Need Right Now
With your help, here’s what we can do immediately:
Provide prescription glasses to 50 more children already identified with vision challenges.
Expand our general health screening to reach 500 more people, especially in deep rural areas.
Distribute 1,000 sanitary pads to girls who need them.
Refill our mobile clinic with fuel and medical supplies to keep rolling.
Why This Matters
In South Africa, underserved communities often suffer quietly. Vision loss in kids is ignored until it derails their schooling. Period poverty forces girls to stay home. Chronic diseases go undetected until it’s too late.
We’re trying to change that but we need more people to step up.
How You Can Help
You don’t have to give thousands to make a real impact.
If you can’t donate now, please share our story with someone who can. Word of mouth is powerful.
Thank You
To our one donor—thank you. Your gift told us we're not alone.
To everyone else reading this: if you believe in the power of clear vision, good health, and restoring dignity, now is the time to act.
