Every Life Matters: Sunny’s Story of Survival and Hope

Sunny (name changed), a months-old infant, was rescued from a suspected child trafficking attempt by the Delhi Police. He was found in a fragile state—severely underweight and extremely weak. According to the police report, several women were seen loitering suspiciously on the streets with the baby. Upon investigation, it was discovered that they were attempting to sell him.

During the legal proceedings, a woman came forward claiming to be Sunny’s mother. She revealed that, due to her desperate circumstances, she was unable to provide proper care and wished to surrender him. Following the court’s decision, Sunny was placed in the care of Asharan Orphanage.

In the three months since his arrival, Sunny began showing remarkable improvement. With consistent care and attention, his health steadily progressed, and he started reaching key developmental milestones. However, the change in weather led to a severe respiratory illness. He developed a serious chest infection and had to be admitted to the ICU for intensive treatment.

Though he eventually recovered, the illness caused a temporary regression in his developmental progress. A subsequent MRI report revealed a medical condition, and he was classified as a “special needs” child. This diagnosis made the adoption process more challenging.

Despite these obstacles, Sunny’s story took a beautiful turn. A few months later, a loving family in Italy came forward to adopt him, embracing him wholeheartedly and offering the care and stability he so deeply deserved.

 Highlights & Celebration

Successful Reunification -  A heartwarming highlight was the reunion of 6-year-old Ishaan (name changed) with his parents. After being separated for a month when he accidentally boarded a train to Delhi, Ishaan was cared for at Asharan until our team successfully traced his family. Their reunion was a truly cherished moment.

Birthday Celebrations - We celebrated the birthdays of two of our children with song, laughter, cake, and joyful memories. These moments remind us that every child deserves to feel special and loved.

Festival Celebrations - August was a vibrant month at Asharan, filled with celebrations! We joyfully marked Independence Day, Janmashtami, and Rakshabandhan with our children. These festivities brought them immense happiness and helped them feel a sense of belonging and love.

Educational trip for children- Children visited National Bal Bhawan, Delhi and they enjoyed a lot. All of them first time ride on toy train and other rides.
