A beautiful baby, born with a big challenge and was under Asharan’s care since 28th May. During this time of crisis, no child care homes were medically prepared to receive a child like this, including Asharan. The tragedy is that there wasn’t an equipped hospital to admit this child without COVID scare. So it was a question of chance. The baby was born with Meningo Myelocele at her lumbar region, a severe form of spino - bifida. The spine was not closed normally at her lower back but was just inside a big sac of a thin membrane that was ruptured. She also developed a breathing issue and was back in a central government Hospital far from Asharan because of their neurology department. Patient care givers to sit with the baby were hard to get and expensive to get because of the COVID 19 scare in most of the hospitals. The CWC, Child line and Asharan worked together to find a solution. Unfortunately, the baby passed away inspite of the intensive hospital care. on 12th June.
During this difficult time, few of you have offered us extra help. Few of you did not stop helping. We are extremely grateful to you and pray that you lack nothing.
The special need kids are improving steadily by the continued care by the staff here and online classes. The older kids are home schooled now and they are doing well.
The renovation work is in progress at a slow pace to avoid exposure.
