Dear Supporters and Change Makers
In South Africa, hunger doesn’t discriminate and neither do we.
Over the past few months, your support has helped us grow our food program into something far more powerful than meals alone. It’s become a lifeline for children trying to stay in school, households led by orphaned siblings, and adults desperately seeking work but with nothing to eat.
What We’ve Done (Since Our Last Update)
19,000+ hot meals served to children, unemployed parents, and child-headed households.
1,400 food parcels distributed to families across Gauteng, focusing on informal settlements and schools.
5 schools reached with regular food drives, ensuring kids don’t go to class hungry or drop out due to lack of meals.
Impact on School Children
Teachers are telling us the difference is clear:
Attendance is up.
Focus in class has improved.
Children are no longer unwell from hunger or skipping school due to a lack of basics.
For many, that one hot meal is their only meal of the day.
Child-Headed Households
We’ve identified 27 households in our current program where children are raising younger siblings. These are kids as young as 14 taking on the role of caregiver after losing parents—often to illness or violence.
Your donations are keeping these families afloat. Food parcels are the first step. Next, we’re working on linking them to counseling, support groups, and school mentorship programs.
For the Unemployed
The cost of living crisis has stripped so many of dignity. Your contributions help us offer not just food but human connection and It’s restoring confidence and giving people hope again.
Thank You
This isn’t charity, it’s a blessing.
You're not just giving food. You're giving a fighting chance to children, families, and communities to survive this crisis with their dignity intact.
We’ve got a long way to go, but with you beside us, we’re moving in the right direction : one plate, one child, one family at a time.
With deep gratitude,
The Hope SA Foundation Team
