Helping 100 Families Recover from Poverty Post COVID19
Since the pandemic hit Sri Lanka the entire country’s economy was highly disrupted. The economic burden induced by the pandemic is not borne evenly and it is critical to protect the poorest and the most vulnerable from falling in to greater hardships.
As a result, many households in rural parts of the country were severely affected by adding further to the challenges they were already facing.
In response to the crisis, World Vision Lanka (WVL) initiated the Home Gardening programme in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Development in order to support the government’s efforts in promoting household food security.
The project will provide 100 families headed by women with children, a sustainable means of recovery from the crippling effects of COVID19, through the provision of training, equipment and all necessary raw materials for home gardening.
With the generous contribution received from numerous donors through GlobalGiving we were able to execute and complete the 1st phase of the project by supporting 10 most vulnerable families.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
