Zubair is one of the boys currently staying at the State home forthe Mentally Challeneged Boys at Diary Circle. He is 18 yearsold however has a mental age of 24 months and has Pica Eatingdisorder, a kind of oral fixation that urges him to put whatever he seesin his mouth.
In the last few months Zubair has improved remarkably with the aidof the constant attention given to him by the nurses on an everydaybasis. In the area of physiotherapy, the stretching excersies havehelped him strengthen his legs and improve his coordination. Hecurrently walks around independently and even tries to jump whenextremely excited .He also showed off his new improved motor skillsat the big birthday bash and still laughts uncontrollably at the mentionof a ‘jumping castle’.Zubair’s attention span was minimal however with the constantencouragement and effort by the nurses and the volunteers , heis now able to throw and catch smiley balls without wavering hisattention too much.
Zubair has improved more in the last 6 months than he has in the last6 years and it is only due to the constant attention love and care ofthe U&I Nurses , dedicated Sunday volunteers and the staff.
