Progress for Hearth to Hearth Ministries - Update

By Victoria Kritzell | Project Leader

Peace herding cattle, unable to attend school
Peace herding cattle, unable to attend school

We are happy to report that our first disbursement from GlobalGiving has been received!  In May, our Executive Director and two board members visited all three orphanages to report on progress since the last visit in December, and also prioritize needs so as to direct your donations effectively. (See photo below of boda-boda ride to Hope Center.) All children were to be reported as being happy, healthy, and studying hard, with "Excellence in Education" being their motto.  We have been able to admit several new children because of our improved financial situation, thanks to you!  There was lots of time for playing with the kids, who entertained their "guests" with special music, dancing, and skits.

A few of the projects that were picked for funding were the purchase of gardening tools for our 4K club to use in growing crops.  Beans, maize, carrots, banana trees and papayas have been planted, as well as other vegetables.  Badly needed text books were purchased for both primary and secondary students.  It was decided to hire  tutors to work with a few students who are struggling to bring them up to standard.  (Some of the older children we receive are behind because they did not have an opportunity to attend school until they came to us.)  Shoes, underwear, soap, toothpaste and Vaseline were purchased for each child.

Future plans include payment of school fees, food, and medical supplies as needed.  We thank you so much for your support and hope you will continue to help us reach the goals we have set for our orphans. Your support and hope you will continue to help us reach our goals.
