Care the responds to community needs

By Christine Cronin | Executive Director

Thank you for your continued support of Alma Community Holistic Therapies over the years. Your generosity has helped Alma continue providing holistic care, connection, and community for refugees, migrants, and others in need. As the needs of the people and communities Alma serves change, their offerings continue to change with them.

Since our last report, Alma has continued to offer a wide range of programs, including support, movement, self-care, and writing groups, along with meditation and sound-based practices. During the summer heat, for example, Alma offered gentler sessions centered around breath, guided meditation, and sound healing. These gatherings gave participants an opportunity to slow down, notice emotions and physical sensations, and experience deep relaxation.

Alma’s connections within the communities it serves are also an important part of this work. A recent gathering brought together people from Nepal, Sudan, Egypt, and other countries, including participants traveling from outside Athens. While the gathering addressed practical issues affecting refugees and migrants, it also gave those working at Alma another opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand what people are experiencing and what support may be helpful.

Through its holistic therapies and community activities, Alma continues to offer different ways for people to care for themselves, connect with others, and find moments of support and restoration.

Thank you to each and every one of you for all you do to make the world a more compassionate place!
