Let the Holiday Planning Begin!

By Vivian Hark | Admin and Operations Coordinator

Growing Together, Looking Ahead

As the holiday season approaches, we’re already ramping up preparations for one of our favorite times of the year at KKOOM. After months of planning and working behind the scenes, we’re getting ready for our annual holiday parties! From organizing gifts and supplies to planning activities and coordinating with volunteers, there is plenty to do before the celebrations begin. Every year brings new ideas and new ways to make the holidays special for the children we serve. We’re excited to see this year’s celebrations come together!

Bringing the Holidays to Life

With preparations underway, there’s a lot that goes into creating a memorable holiday celebration. We work closely with the children’s homes we support to learn what the children are interested in and what they would enjoy most. From there, our volunteers help plan activities, organize supplies, prepare gifts, and make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Each year, we look for new ways to make the celebrations exciting and inclusive for children of all ages. We take inspiration from past years while introducing new activities, games, and creative stations that give everyone a chance to participate.

And of course, no holiday celebration would be complete without gifts! We work with the children to make sure they receive something they genuinely want and will enjoy. Seeing their excitement as they open their gifts is one of our favorite parts of the day.

Beyond the activities and gifts, one of the most meaningful parts of this tradition is its consistency. Graduates have often shared how fondly they remember these holiday celebrations. Knowing the event returns year after year gives children something special to look forward to and a tradition they can call their own. These familiar celebrations create lasting memories that stay with them long after they leave the children's homes.

After months of preparation, it all comes together in one day filled with laughter, games, food, music, and plenty of holiday cheer. For our team and volunteers, it’s a wonderful reminder of why we put so much care into keeping this tradition alive each year.

Help Us Make This Year Special

As we prepare for another holiday season, we’re always looking for new ways to make our celebrations more fun and memorable. We’re always looking for new ideas to bring to our celebrations, and some of our best activities have come from people who simply wanted to share something they loved. What holiday activities did you love as a kid, or what activities do you think the children would enjoy? Maybe it was a favorite holiday game, a creative craft, a special tradition, or simply something that brought everyone together.

Some of our best activities have come from people who simply wanted to share something they loved.
