This past year we received and serve 37 kids from different parts of Puerto Rico. We have 15 kids, both sexes, at the Home. The youngest is eight days old and the oldest is seven years of age. This past months our children received the joy of receiving a lots of school materials, clothes and others for their basic needs. Some of them, when they arrive at the Home, only have the clothes they were using at the moment. Now they have new clothes, new toys, everything they need for a healthy life. They received special care from our personnel, tutorial, physical, speech and ocupational therapy, medical attention, some of them have some special medical needs, recreation and all they may need during their time at the Home. And, specially a lots of love and care to help them heal from their traumatical situation and to show them a new life and a new future full of hope, we love to see them smile again.
At the begining of the year we have a very happy time because some of our kids went to a home to be adopted, there were to sibblings, a boy and a girl, it was very special for us because he was five years old and she was six, in our experience it is very hard to find homes for children older than 3 years of age. And three sibblings went back to their mother. It is a 2%, from our experience, that the children go back to their family. It is very easy to get homes for babies and totlers for adoption but it is very hard to have a home for older children. We continue hoping that what we saw these past months will continue. They need a home too, they are children that need a family that will give them an opportunity, we know they are gone to love you back in gratitude.
The donations we received are use to provide for our children's needs. Everything we do is to provide for all their needs, create a secure Home, full of care with the appropiate personnel: Caregivers, Nurse, Social Worker, Service Coordinator, personnel for maintenance of interior and exterior, Adminitration personnel and Volunteers, working together with the Board of Directors. Our main goal is to give our children, and children we may receive in the future, a Home were they feel secure, loved and were they find a healing in their lives from the abuse they received. Your are part of the things that are happening at Hogar de Ninos Regazo de Paz (in english means "Home for Children, a Lap of Peace"). Your help brings hope to a lots of children and you are that "Lap of Peace" they need. God bless you all.
