Just a few days ago, APIASF hosted the fourth annual Higher Education Summit in Washington, D.C. with the theme Moving Forward: Engaging the Changing Face of America. Attended by hundreds of college presidents, education leaders, students, policymakers, federal government officials and corporate executives from across the nation, each year, the event aims to raise awareness about the unique needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) student population and the institutions they attend through the release of new data, panel discussions, a town hall meeting, and a series of concurrent sessions submitted by leaders in higher education and the community.

This year, we were excited to welcome over 30 Scholars from across the country thanks in part to the support we received through your donations! Our Scholars attended a Scholar Briefing, Scholar Leadership Workshop, a private reception with Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) leaders, the entire Summit program, as well as a Debriefing. For many Scholars this was their first time in Washington, D.C., and for some of our Scholars, this was their first time on a plane! We hope this was an empowering event for our Scholars, and from some of the Scholar feedback we've received so far, it really has been!

Thanks to you, the funding that we have received has allowed us to…

Support 1 Hawai'i-based Scholar to attend and participate at the upcoming Summit;
Produce 2 new scholarship outreach flyers in Thai and Korean, with the Karen, Chuukese, and Khmer (Cambodian) versions of the flyer to be completed within the next few weeks; and
Provide partial funds for an APIASF re/present blog internship.

It's thanks to community members and supporters like you that we are able to push on! And we won't stop until AAPI students have the resources that they need to access, complete, and succeed after post-secondary education. Continue to march on with us and consider showing your support for our work again by making another donation!
