High Risk Teenage Aid in Argentina second report

By Mariana Gonzalez Sbarbi | Project leader

Young mothers meeting
Young mothers meeting

The “Pesebre group” has been helping young pregnant girls and women get access to information through talks held for the group, that they otherwise would not have: how to care for themselves during the pregnancy, what to expect from childbirth, and to simply create a safe space for these young mothers between the ages of 14 and 22 to ask questions, and feel cared for.

The group of 17 to 24 mothers with their children, or expecting mothers, meets once per week Saturday mornings every two weeks. A volunteer doctor attends and provides routine check-ups of the children, as well as a gynocologist doctor to help the young women with any concerns or issues they may have. The group tries to provide clothing, diapers, food and some toys for the children, depending on how much money is available, as well as donations. During these holidays, we continue working with this group of young mothers, and providing everything they need and is within reach.

We are hoping to receive more donations to be able to provide the young women and their children with not only food and clothing, but more activities and classes to further support them as new mothers. Empower them as mothers, and strengthen the bond with their children.
