Thank you for following High Five for Health. We want to give you an honest update. Our online fundraising for this project did not bring in donations this period. We have taken that as a lesson about how our community prefers to connect with us. Many of our neighbors here in the US Virgin Islands respond best to a face-to-face conversation.
Because of this, our team has shifted toward in-person outreach. We spent two days at two of our largest local supermarkets, talking with shoppers about our patients and the challenges they face in getting the care they need. The response was heartening. In just those two days, neighbors gave almost $400 to support our patients. We’ve also posted flyers throughout the community and kept sharing our videos about why healthcare access matters so much in the Virgin Islands.
These conversations have reminded us how much our community cares. Many people stopped to share their own experiences with getting care on the islands, and those stories strengthen our commitment to this work.
Looking ahead, we plan to keep showing up in person at local businesses and community spaces, and to keep sharing our message through video and print. We will continue to post updates here. Thank you for caring about the health of our community.
