CIW continues to bring HERS to struggling women among the Fox Valley, from refugees to single mothers, offering discussions and advice for dealing with their various daily struggles, while also providing for them access to resources like diapers for their children.
One of our main goals with HERS as of late is to continue raising awareness for mental health and stress relief...for many individuals in the refugee communities of Congalese and Rwandan women, concepts such as mental health, autism, and ADHD are a foreign concept to them, and learning to care for their mental health is not something they are taught or made aware of. By introducing these lessons, we help open up their eyes to the larger issues affecting most women, and show that they are not alone in their struggles, giving them access to well documented resources and advice that they would need.
